Update: The Infamous Bun...with Video!

Preface:  I posted this whole schebang back in June, and since then, have had several people ask me how I do it, or, tell me they need a new hair-do...... Many of my newer readers have not seen this either, so.......I decided (while driving back to Phx last night) that I'll repost this today. It really is the neatest hairstyle (well, to me anyways!) because it takes me all of TWO minutes to do!

---------------------------------------

Having served in the military, and still being in the military (Reserves), I have had to wear a uniform, and learned how to "put up" my hair in a style that, well, "fits" with being neat, tidy, and ....easy!

So I wear my hair in a bun. This is how I wear my hair on a daily...yeah I love to wear my hair down, but in the summer? Um, no. Sorry. Too hot. And with two kiddos, school, a blog, and extra-curricular activities, and doing alot of personal projects on the side, I am not lucky enough to have more than a few minutes to shower and get ready. I mean, hubby is not here to help so I have to do things myself. That's hard enough.

People that see me wonder "how" I do my hair. They see this bun, and they go "ooohhh you have long hair...is that hard to put up?" No! It's EASY. Takes all of 2 minutes, if that, and I'm ready to go out, and even better, it looks tidy!

I have had alot of people ask me to show them how I do my hair. Of course I can't take pictures behind my head, so I used my 3 year old as my "model". Here we go!

You will need the following:

1. Big Black Tube Sock (or any long tube sock)
2. Two elastic ties
3. Two hair scrunchies (or 1, depending on how thick or long your hair is)

You start by cutting the "toe" off your long tube sock. Once you cut the toe off, roll the sock up like a donut with a hole (duh, a donut has a hole. I'm stupid...HELLO Sheryl...)

Photobucket

Put your hair in a low ponytail. Either right in the back of your head, or on the side, or whatever. You can even be creative and put it up high.

Photobucket

Then, put the hair through the donut.

Then, spread your hair around the donut, so that the donut is covered by your hair all the way around.  Use the elastic to put around the donut, securing your hair. You will have scraggles sticking out, it's Ok!

Take the "excess" hair, and form it around the donut, and then throw a scrunchy over it. You may need two. Tuck any loose ends under the scrunchy.

That's it! You have a beau-ti-ful bun!

Fry's: Wholly Guac or Wholly Salsa 50¢!

Cruised through Fry's tonight -- had a $2 catalina that was expiring today, so I bought a gallon of milk + a few bananas (for 'nanner puddin'!)  ------>  woot! I found the milk gallons on sale for $1.77, and escaped from Fry's paying a whopping .17 after my bananas + $2 catalina. Woooooppppeeee!  Can't you tell I'm just a leetle too high strung today?!  Ha! :)

But hold on to your choney's!  Guess what I found?

Wholly Guac & Wholly Salsa for $2 dolla. TWO DOLLA HOLLA!

Now, last week *some* of you lucky ducks found this stuff for $1.50 at YOUR stores. But not me (of course....never at my store ....)

Well today is your day, my friend. :)

Wholly Guac OR, Wholly Salsa $2
$1.50/1 Wholly Guac or Salsa printable
$1/1 Wholly Guac (10/10 SS, x 10/31) <--exp tomorrow!
= as low as .50!

Check it out: This is a legitimate PDF from their actual website.  I selected "booklet print" on my print dialog box, that way it prints on one side of the page (and not the entire sheet!)  so as to save ink + paper.

They had all the varieties there -- Wholly Guac Spicy...Pico de Gallo.....the list goes on and on. The Wholly Salsa came in the big tubs (shown above), or the multi-pack of little tubs.

Albertsons: Un-Advertised Cereal Deal = .25 Fruit Loops?!

Warning: Poor Picture Quality...

Woot woot for a gr8 find!

I ran into Albies today for a FREE shopping trip (hee hee)...

Seriously....I wanted to do a Fry's run SO bad, but I am trying to wait until Monday when the $5 off $20 goes into play. I mean, hard for me to wait when I see y'all going & gettin' good deals but ...  it's only a day away!

Allright. So I bought 3 Shake & Bake, and 1 Stovetop, and 3 Shamrock Farms milks (which are $1).  Paid = NOTATHING.  (Not. A. Thing.)

I also saw this pallet of cereal for $1:

Trix
Lucky Charms
Fruit Loops
Cap'n Crunch
Yellow Box Cheerios And...
Honey Nut Cheerios

I stood there. In total disbelief. Are you freakin kidding me? Albies? Has cereal for a DOLLA? A HOLLA DOLLA?! I mean, this girl (me) does NOT holla holla in Albies for anything. Really, I don't.

So I got on the horn (Phone) and started a-dialing.... "Did you know??" --- "Did you know...?" ...blah blah blah......

SERIOUSLY, A BUCK!

So ...I'm not sure if this is every store, or just "my" Albies but hey, worth a look.

Assorted Cereals:
-Include Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Fruit Loops, Trix, Lucky Charms, & Cap'n Crunch
$1/2 Cap'n Crunch (05/16 RP, x 10/31)
$1/2 Cap'n Crunch (08/29 RP, x 12/31)
$1/2 Cheerios (10/31 SS, x 12/11)
$1.50/2 Fruit Loops printable
$1/2 GM Cereals (select varieties) (09/19 SS, x 10/30)
= as low as .25 ea. wyb 2 (Fruit Loops?!)

Note: This was at my Albertsons. I don't know if it is at every store.  Please don't get upset if your Albies does not have it for $1!!  I can't control that! :)  If you find it, consider yourself blessed. If not, well, it wasn't meant for you to have! ;)

Birds Can be Funny....But This One? He's Got Moves.....

I'm laughing SO HARD........

Someone HELP ME..........

A friend of mine in Alaska showed me this morning. Know what it reminded me of?
the dancing we all do when the grocery stores SHOW US the money.......

hahaha ;)

Birds can be funny, true true, but this one? He's got moves...........

I expected to pay between $5 and $10 but holy cow....I did not expect to get paid! I was dreading thinking about using my debit card...I even through in an extra bag o' change....but nope not tonight! I LOVE FRYS!

So do I! You sound like me: Change Purse! Me too me too!! You ever see that geeky lady at the register? With 2 craky kids? One in a Cinderella dress? That's me. Me, 2 kids, & a coin purse. Rollin' at Wags 10/31 - 11/06: Scenarios for Beginners

Photobucket

Another week of "Rollin' at Wags: Scenarios for Beginners!"  Just a few tidbits:  the # of items should always match the # of coupons -- if not, you need a "filler" - preferably something "cheap". In ad coupons don't count as coupons, so you can always pick up Halloween Plastic cups, jello.....etc. Cheaper is better.

Why do I do a post on this each week? I do it to assist those of you who are beginners to Walgreens, and help provide a general guide to what you *may* do.  By no means do you have to get these items! This is just to give you an idea ;)

I calculated, and re-calcuated, and I hope there are no errors. If there are, please forgive me. But hopefully this will give you all beginners a great start to Walgreens.

We shall commence. Rollin' at Wags 10/31 - 11/06: Scenarios for Beginners!

Please keep the Walgreens Coupon Policy with you, just in case you run into issues.

NEW 50 Point RecycleBank Code = Awesome Coupons!

Photobucket

Remember my post about RecycleBank several months ago? Well lets put it to good use!

RecycleBank is a program that gives points for recycling that can be exchanged for prizes. They’re still expanding and chances are they may not have a program set up in your area yet. However, they still allow anybody to join up and start earning points immediately!  One way you can earn points is by inputting codes!  So today...we have codes!!

  1. Sign up to register and enter following codes below.
  2. Go to your account and click " Earn Points" in green color.
  3. On the top right side, enter following codes and select following partners.

For ease, I highlighted the codes you should enter :)

031604025496  -  Select drop down "Nature Made"

Do this a total of 5 times for 50 points.  Once you are done, Join the Ebay green team and earn more 50 points.

Note: I did this at 9:50 a.m. this morning - I got 50 points in a matter of 2 minutes.

There are a variety of rewards you can "shoot for" -- here are a few ideas!

  • 50 points: Safeway $5 off $50 Grocery Purchase
  • 50 points: Albertsons $5 off $50 Grocery Purchase + a free tote bag
  • 50 points: $3/1 any Kashi Product
  • 50 points:  $1.50/1 any Barbaras Bakery product

And more!  Last week I redeemed my points for a $5 off $30 CVS coupon -- but now I don't see one listed ..... :-/ So I'm not sure if that's just me or everyone.  Your reward will be sent via postal mail, unless it has a print icon on it -- in which case you CAN print it! (That's a new feature!)

Thanks Hip2Save!

Rollin' at CVS 10/31 - 11/06: Scenarios for Beginners

Photobucket

Another week of "Rollin' at CVS: Scenarios for Beginners".  I wanted to show 3 transactions, with the first one being $5 or less out of pocket, and then show you some "ideas" on how to roll it into other transactions.   The deals are a bit sparse this week......so it was hard to come up with some great ideas!

Please understand that this is just a few of many scenarios.  This does require the $5 off $15 CVS Minute Clinic coupon, which I posted HERE.... If you are a new CVS'er and you sign up for their emails HERE you will get a $4/$20.  If you are a new couponer and do not have some of the coupons below, remember you can always order coupons too - I would highly recommend Coupons & Things by DeDe or My Coupon Hunter.

Although we always "try" to grow our ECBs each week, please remember that sometimes you can't always "grow" them - and in those cases, it helps to get things that are going to be useful for you at home - or, to buy necessities when you're running low on cash.

Lastly, the Reinventing Beauty Magazine can be found in the cosmetics area; my store had the coupons taken out and stacked up on the shelf so that purchase of the magazine was unnecessary. Every store may be different.

Rollin' at CVS 10/31 - 11/02: CVS for Beginners

Buy 1 Oral-B Battery-Powered Toothbrush $4.99 ea.

Buy 1 Olay Ribbons Body Wash $7
= $8
Less (1) .50/1 Secret (10/31 PG)

Less $2 RR from Transaction 1 (Oral-B)
= .50 out of pocket | Earn $3 ECB (Oil of Olay Body Wash)

* Note: Not all stores will have trial size secret. If yours does not, the full size begin at $2.19 ea.

Then, Transaction 3:

1 Dawn Hand Renewal .97 ea.
1 Filippo Berio Olive Oil $3.99 ea.
= $4.96
Less (1) .50/1 Dawn Hand Renewal (10/31 PG)
Less (1) $1/1 Filippo Berio Olive Oil printable
Less $3 RR from Transaction 2 (Oil of Olay Body Wash)
= .46 out of pocket

All in all you have spent: $1.30.

You have accumulated $40.24 in health & beauty, & grocery products.

There are many other *possible* scenarios, though your out of pocket would more than likely be a little higher.  Do you have a different scenario? Please share!

Fry's: FREE Chex Mix?!

Got in late last night (or should I say early this morning?) and the first thing I did after feeding and bathing the kids was check my email.......

Hmmmm....

Got an email from MC @ Phx...  who told me that she got FREE Chex Mix at Fry's. Know how? Apparently Chex Mix is part of the "Buy 4 Save $6" --- now, the ad shows only the GM Cereals as being part of that, but MC is the SECOND person to tell me that (props to Nick for also emailing me!)

So, with that being said, here's the scoop:

Chex Mix - Traditional or Cheddar, .99 ea. wyb 4 (regularly $2.49 ea.)
.50/1 Chex Mix printable
.50/1 Chex Mix printable
.50/1 Chex Mix printable
.50/1 Chex Mix printable (IE) or printable (FF)
.50/1 Chex Mix printable (Target site but MFR coupon)
.50/2 Chex Mix (09/12 SS, x 11/06)

Final price? As low as ALL FOUR FREE!!!

Now, I know that some of you may not see them marked at your store -- remember: it never hurts to try. I have not been to Fry's since I left Tuesday night, but two people in two entirely different parts of the Valley have had success with this already so hopefully you will too!!

Thanks to both MC @ Phx & Nick!

Walgreens on the "Freap" 10/31 - 11/06

Photobucket

FREAP = Free + Cheap.

Will YOU be Waggin it?

Keep in mind I don't do all the matchups; just a few notable finds.

You can see the ad scan HERE, just input your zip code. Some things to keep in mind when shopping at Wags:

  • Walgreens has a new coupon policy effective 08/26/2010 - go HERE to view!
  • The total amount of Register Rewards (RR’s) + Coupons cannot exceed the total number of items being purchased. If you have 4 coupons, and 3 items, then you will need a “filler” – think cheap pencil, pack of seeds, etc. In-ad coupons do not count against that.
  • RR’s for item A can be used to purchase another item A, but you will not get any RR’s. You must use RR’s from item C to get RR’s for item A. (Confusing? Yes..I know…hence why I don’t like Walgreens!)
  • RR’s have an expiration date of 2 weeks.
  • Lastly, if my "coupon-lingo" is too much to comprehend, go here to read more about my abbreviations!
  • See HERE for a pic of the October coupon book!

Go HERE to play the Walgreens Spirit of Savings game!

Coupon High to the Extreme.......

So..............reading thru the comments on my Safeway $25 Gift Card giveaway & I'm laughin SO HARD........ I mean, I had no idea that readin thru these comments would concern my husband, who's sitting in the next room goin thru paperwork. You all crack me up. Swear.

I will preface by telling you that last night I got a text message from a reader -- funniest thing ever. She went to Fry's, & finally was able to get her total down to just pennies, and earn a catalina on her next order. She came home...took photos (our monument! Our TRIBUTE!) -- I then said "Oh MY GREAT JOB lady!!  What did hubby say?"

Oh he didn't really say anything. (WOW..so sounds like my hubby...)   I told him he needs to eat the entire tub of ice cream tonight because we don't have room for it in the freezer.

ha ha hah a ha!!!!!!!  NO WAY..........no room in your freezer?! Imagine that!   That's when you KNOW your a true couponer - you keep a'shopping, and you keep a'stuffin.  My FREEZER is FULL at my house. Both Fridge Freezer & Stand Alone Freezer. And yet? I still shop. To get my CoupHi.  Oh yeah. I mean, I might *miss* a deal!

Then...................

Just a few hours earlier, I had a call from another reader. She was leaving Fry's. Blushing apparently -- my first thought?  A guy must of said somethin to her (I mean, naturally that's what I thought!)

"Um, no......I'm blushing because I just walked out of Fry's spending 0.00".  Apparently my calculations were not calculated enough, the cashier kept scanning and the computer kept beeping. The manager next to her said "um, Sweetheart, you can stop scanning now...the machine isn't goin to give her money back......"

The elderly cashier just handed my reader $7 in coupons BACK, thanked her, and gave her the receipt. I didn't know what to say. Or how tto feel. I just kinda grabbed it and pushed my cart out of the store. I'm still in shock.   I mean, I knew I was good but I didn't know I was THIS good.........

I mean, who does that?  I mean, I NEVER take my debit card to the store. I take my change purse, full of change, and a few dollars. WHO DOES THAT??

You know, the last few days out in El Paso has me struggling. Purely struggling. I can't go take pics in Fry's. I can't do my deals ...all I can do is sit and listen to y'all do yours....

And hear about your coupon highs........

"Coupon High"? You becha'! Some Fry's stores have these little silver bells at the register with a sign that says to ring if you had great service. I just can't resist smackin that bell with my palm when I see my total go from $200 to $2. It's my way of yelling "show me the money!"

HAHAHAHA! Are you serious? In that case RING ON Sista! LOL!!

It's the high that keeps me couponing! :) The only downside is it nearly kills me to pay retail for things that I need! LOL

Oh so so so so true...........I feel you on that one......... I cringe at the thought of full price........

Love the coupon high.. I almost go hit by a car in Frys parking lot after getting paid 91 cents for $85 worth of groceries.. I was so afraid I wouldnt live to brag about it!! It was by far my best shopping trip ever.

Now, THIS, is an EXTREME coupon high ---->    I would have felt REALLY bad switching on the news at the in-laws only to hear "Woman gets hit by car after scoring *almost* free groceries........... gosh........   you really WERE excited!

Definitely believe in "coupon high"! I Read once that some women get a higher "high" while couponing than while having sex! That's me!
My family and my husband definitely think I'm crazy, but they love all the goodies I bring home to them! :) Like you on FB, btw.

Ha ha! Hmmm.  Lets not tell our husbands this little tidbit.

And the funniest one yet?  I almost fell outta my chair at this one.

Um. Well. yeah... <---- insert embarrassed face.  I thing the $165.00 I'm having to spend on defensive driving school is not only proof that I believe in the "coupon high," but have also been pulled over wile driving under the influence of the "coupon high." I had save $120 that night and was quite "high" at the time I was pulled over for doing 52 in a 45. Sooo yeah, I DO BELieve! I BELIEVE!

Um..........my bad (insert embarrassed face here). I had NO idea that my blog, deals, matchups *may* contribute to speeding tickets for my readers. Um...uh, maybe I should re-think the amount of frees I post -- make sure y'all stay legit on the road? ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You all crack me up so bad, thank for the laughs..................!!

Advice for those starting out with CVS:

Read more about CVS and their coupon policy (Thanks I Heart CVS!)

Was your store out of stock on an item? It's ok!! Get a raincheck! CVS Rainchecks are awesome...because:

1. They don't expire!
2. They can be used at ANY CVS!
3. You will still get your ECB (cashier has to manually print them for you)
4. You can make your "OWN" Sale! :)
